Bangalore Open Java User Group(BOJUG) – Rocked!

Today, was the first BOJUG meet, It was a good start. we had two presenters from Sun Microsystems

The Topics for the meet was “NetBeans RCP” and “Apache Derby/Java DB”. It was really an eye opener for me to see the effeciency of using Netbeans RCP which reduces lots of plumbing work. This session was handled by Rohan .

Second session was another hidden feature of Java. I like to quote it as hidden because, I had never come accross the fact that JDK1.6 has a database embedded within it. I have been reading lots of blogs and lots of articles about Java1.6, unfortunately i havent seen any article or any blog by Sunder rajan or Danny’s blog mentioning about this cool Database called Derby within JDK itself.

All in all it was a great experience. It was an different experience as it was informal kind of session unlike other communities. The participants were very enthusiastic, very agile and vocal about there doubts and ideas which is really a great sign for the community.

I am sure the community will grow and evolve in a long run…
